Cumming - A College Town?
The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia approved a request by North Georgia College and State University (Dahlonega) and Gainesville State College to open an instructional site in the city of Cumming near GA.400 at Pilgrim Mill Rd. Classes are scheduled to begin within 12 to 18 months eventually offering a range of two- and four-year undergraduate programs and graduate programs.
Also at the site, which overlooks Sawnee Mountain, will be the $15 million Cumming Aquatic Center, expected to open in the summer of 2012.
City officials and residents are very excited about this. It should bring in employment opportunities and give our youth a place for higher learning, closer to home.
